When people look to another person’s table, their way of life cannot be considered a life. They pollute themselves by eating someone else’s food, but a person who is intelligent and educated will guard against that.

If you have to depend on someone else for your food, you are not really living your own life. You pollute yourself by accepting food from another. Begging is torture to the soul of any sensitive person.
When one has to look to a stranger’s table, life is not worth living. The delicacies offered bring revulsion of spirit, and to the intelligent, inward torture.
When you start to eye someone else’s table, your life truly is not worth calling a life. The gullet is defiled with the food of strangers; anyone who is wise and well-instructed will guard against doing that.
